Nanospeed 9900 Reveiw

Room - Emma Donoghue

In my enthusiasm will not. Maybe it's because I do not like books where the main character are children or teenagers. Perhaps because the "Peace" was quite predictable. Anyway, good reviews in the English-language boards did their job and be tempted to read.

In short, the content of the novel is drawn as follows: a young woman imprisoned for 7 years by a man named Nick in isolation from the surrounding area. Along with her staying there 5-year-old son Jack, who by virtue of imprisonment has never been outside. The so-called. "Real" world knows only from television, but treat it as fiction. As you might guess, this condition can not last forever - a woman decides to escape.

"Peace" mainly to the strength of maternal love that is something that has already been reported in the literature many times. Children's narrator is also not new, although in Donoghue interesting is the language of Jack (I came across a challenge for the translator). In my opinion, is a well-written family drama that is sure to find many supporters in Poland. I became interested in the novel problem of relativity of certain concepts, in this case freedom. That's what the general is a prerequisite for life, for others (ie, living in isolation) can be a nightmare. Striking theme was for me also Jack's mother's creativity - in the era of galloping consumerism reuse of packaging, or inventing new uses for objects gives food for thought.

A moving story and a good pace is a big plus "Peace", this novel the reader can actually draw. In my case, the list of advantages to this, unfortunately, ends, with hindsight, I know that it was not for me to read of great importance. Bothered me a taste of tabloid sensation and a feeling of writing to satisfy the media. But these are of course my very subjective feelings;)

book to be published in Polish translation in May.
